About
One maker,
three trades.
Drew is a software developer with more than a decade in the craft, based in Colorado. The working week splits three ways: client work as an independent consultant, original products under the Aetheric Acres name, and the slow, physical development of a forty-acre homestead — by hand, since 2022.
The software practice runs deep on mobile: React Native and Expo apps, Firebase back ends, TypeScript everywhere, with particular experience in healthcare integrations. The land practice runs on older stacks — water, soil, sunlight — and turns out to teach the same lesson as the codebase: systems you understand are systems you can fix.
Somewhere between the two sits a long-standing interest in the Western contemplative traditions — the lineages that treated inner work as disciplined practice rather than belief. That thread runs through the studio's name, its mark, and its first app.
The idea underneath
Prefer systems you control
over systems you depend on.
Sovereignty
Own the stack, from the domain name down. The site you're reading is static files that can live on any server; the models run on hardware in the building; the tools are built, not rented.
Food sovereignty
Growing a real share of what gets eaten — a deliberate life choice, not a hobby. The greenhouse, swales, gardens, and flock all point at the same goal.
Long-term resilience
Build things designed to hold up over decades, not quarters — orchards, codebases, and communities alike. The planting horizon is the planning horizon.
None of this is theory. Inference runs on owned machines instead of cloud APIs. The power system on the drawing board is sized to keep the compute alive along with the well pump. Off-grid mesh networking is on the bench. Sovereignty, practiced daily, in small unglamorous ways.
